About Nairnshire Area Family Trees
I actually should name the website "LookingForJanet.com" In my quest for information regarding
the origins of my 4th great, Janet MacIntosh who married James Calder in 1807 Nairnshire, I
have downloaded many items from the GROS, purchased numerous MI booklets, visited the area,
etc.
As a result of this research, there are many "extras" going to waste.
As I am at a dead end with some time on my hands........have decided to incorporate information from the MI booklets, extras from scotlandpeople, etc. into family trees. My last ditch effort to find the connection that continues to elude me.
With regard to burials - I have recently added a link to the website for Highland Memorial Inscriptions, an excellent site and extremely helpful. I initially asked Mandi for photos but thought it best to list her website and a reference to the burial rather than waste her time for the details (when you request info, she not only emails the photo but also takes the time to transcribe the MI from the photo).
Going forward, I am checking Mandi's index. If I list a burial without specific info (a death registration or a transcription from a MI booklet), I am looking at her index. Although I may list a burial at a specific location, this does not necessarily mean that the individual is buried there. Please visit Mandi's site to verify the information that I have listed (and kindly take the time to let me know if I need to make a correction).
At the time that I discovered her site, I was already through about 4,000 souls and I encourage folks to check her website as she has quite a collection!!
NOTE: With regard to Mac / Mack surnames - Although I realize that there is a distinction between Mac and Mack, I have no idea if the interpretation belongs to the person recording the information or the person who provided the information. For the time being, all are Mc except for Mackie as I never know what to do with that one :-)

Getting Around There are several ways to browse the family tree. The Tree View graphically shows the relationship of selected person to their kin. The Family View shows the person you have selected in the center, with his/her photo on the left and notes on the right. Above are the father and mother and below are the children. The Ancestor Chart shows the person you have selected in the left, with the photograph above and children below. On the right are the parents, grandparents and great-grandparents. The Descendant Chart shows the person you have selected in the left, with the photograph and parents below. On the right are the children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Do you know who your second cousins are? Try the Kinship Relationships Tool. Your site can generate various Reports for each name in your family tree. You can select a name from the list on the top-right menu bar.
In addition to the charts and reports you have Photo Albums, the Events list and the Relationships tool. Family photographs are organized in the Photo Index. Each Album's photographs are accompanied by a caption. To enlarge a photograph just click on it. Keep up with the family birthdays and anniversaries in the Events list. Birthdays and Anniversaries of living persons are listed by month. Want to know how you are related to anybody ? Check out the Relationships tool. |
